Eric Skinner

Eric Skinner is the Director of Bands at Harker Heights High School
Eric is in his 12th year in music education, and his second year as Director of Bands at Harker Heights High school. He is a native of Athens, Ohio, where he began his career in 2014.
Eric earned his Bachelor of Music Education from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio where he studied with Roger Braun, Guy Remonko, Dr. Richard Suk and Dr. Andrew Trachsel. As a percussionist, he performed with the Ohio University Symphonic Band, Symphony Orchestra and Wind Symphony. Performance opportunities included appearances at the College Band Directors National Association North Central Conference and the World Premier of Mason Bates’ Mothership, as featured on their debut album Mothership, produced by Mark Records.
Eric has taught at Harker Heights High School for 4 years, serving as the Assitant Director and Director of Percussion before stepping into the Head Director position. While at Harker Heights, his ensembles have received sweepstakes ratings at in both UIL Concert and Sightreading, and UIL Marching Contests where they are an annual Area D qualifier. In addition to UIL, his ensembles have experienced success at USBands and Bands of America events across Central Texas.
Eric remains active in the music community outside of the classroom. Over the years, Eric has served as TMEA Region 8 Honor Band Clinician and spent time as a Tour Administrator with the Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps from Denver, Colorado and performed with several community ensembles locally. Currently, he performs with the Community Band of Central Texas in Salado, Texas. His professional affiliations include the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association and Drum Corps International.

Tyler Claycomb

Tyler Claycomb is an Associate Director of Bands at Harker Heights High School
Tyler earned a Master of Music in Instrumental Conducting from Sam Houston State University and a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Anderson University (Indiana). While at SHSU, he worked with the concert and athletic bands and provided trumpet lessons to middle and high school students in Conroe ISD. He also served as a masterclass instructor and high brass/visual technician for Conroe and Westfield High Schools.
Before moving to Texas, Tyler worked for Conn Selmer’s Division of Education and served as interim Director of Bands at Warsaw Community High School. Under his leadership, the marching band placed 8th at the ISSMA Scholastic State Finals, and the Wind Ensemble earned a gold rating with distinction. During his undergraduate years, he was a high brass instructor and visual technician for the Muncie Southside and Anderson High School marching bands, helping them secure notable placements at the Indiana State Fair Band Day Finals.
Tyler has remained actively involved in his community. He currently participates in the The Community Band of Central Texas and has previously served as an invited musician with the Grace College Wind Ensemble. Additionally, Tyler was a member of the Worship Team at Warsaw Evangelical Presbyterian Church and served as production manager and board member for Classic Arts Programs, assisting the Lakeland Community Choir. As a founding member of the Arts Coalition, he helped revitalize the Symphony of the Lakes, securing funding and serving as Personnel Manager. Tyler has also served as a volunteer for the Conn-Selmer Institute.
Outside of music, Tyler enjoys a variety of hobbies that keep him active and creative. He spends his free time lifting weights, enjoying sports, cooking, and spending too much time caring for his lawn.

Clay Roesler

Clay Roesler is the Director of Percussion at Harker Heights High School
Clay Roesler is a San Antonio, TX native and a dedicated music educator with a passion for the marching arts. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from Oklahoma Christian University in 2021, where he performed with the university’s Symphonic Band, Chamber Orchestra, and Steel Drum Ensemble. He also collaborated with the University of Central Oklahoma Percussion Studio during his time in college.
Clay has an extensive background in the marching arts, having performed with the Crossmen Drum & Bugle Corps front ensemble from 2020–2021. He went on to serve on the administrative team for The Cavaliers Drum & Bugle Corps from 2022–2024.
His teaching experience is both broad and diverse. Clay completed his student teaching at Mustang High School, Mustang Central Middle School, Meadow Brook Intermediate, and Mustang Valley Elementary in Oklahoma. He has served as a freelance private percussion instructor and as a percussion technician for Douglas MacArthur High School and Veterans Memorial High School in San Antonio. From 2022–2024, he held his first full-time teaching position at Alvin High School before joining Harker Heights High School, where he serves as the Director of Percussion.
Clay is an active member of the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA), Texas Bandmasters Association (TBA), and the Percussive Arts Society (PAS). He proudly endorses Vic Firth, Innovative Percussion, and Zildjian products.
Outside of teaching, Clay enjoys spending time with his girlfriend Natalie, friends, honing his photography and coffee brewing skills, and watching sports.

Dr. Maggie Landes
HHHS - Director Avalon Color Guard

Dr. Landes is the Director of the Avalon Color Guard and Teacher of the Year at Harker Heights High School
Dr. Maggie Landes, MD, MPH is a Health Science CTE teacher at Harker Heights High School and Director of the Avalon Color Guard. She was named Teacher of the Year in 2025 for Harker Heights High School and a finalist for Killeen ISD’s Secondary Teacher of the Year. Before transitioning to education, she had a distinguished 20-year career in clinical medicine, board-certified by the American Academy of Pediatrics, practicing pediatric hospital medicine in various private and academic settings across the U.S. Throughout her medical career, she held multiple leadership roles, including executive council positions and organizational directorships.
Dr. Landes holds a Bachelor of Biomedical Engineering from Vanderbilt University, a Master of Public Health Nutrition from Liberty University, and a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Texas – Houston Medical School. She currently serves as the Harker Heights High School chapter advisor for the Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA) Club and supports health science educators statewide as a member of the Texas Health Occupations Association (THOA) Board of Directors. Originally from Plano, TX, she was the color guard captain and principal French horn player in the Plano Senior High School Band in the early 1990s and briefly performed in color guard and wind ensemble at the collegiate level before focusing on medical sciences.
Despite a long hiatus from performing, Dr. Landes has remained a passionate supporter of the “Sport of the Arts” and is excited to lead the Avalon Color Guard, creating impactful experiences for her students. In her personal life, she is a dedicated dance and band mom to her two children and enjoys cooking, photography, graphic arts, and cancer survivorship advocacy.
